Iraq 2022
From the 3rd to the 13th of March 2022, a group of 78 students and teachers embarked on an enlightening journey to Iraq, exploring the rich historical and spiritual tapestry of this ancient land. The expedition proved to be an immersive experience, fostering a deep connection with the sacred sites that hold profound significance in Islamic history.
The primary focus of our pilgrimage was Karbala, a city forever etched in the hearts of millions. The somber yet spiritually charged atmosphere enveloped our group as we performed Ziarat at the resting place of Imam Husain, who bravely sacrificed his life for justice and truth in the Battle of Karbala. The poignant experience left an indelible mark on each participant, emphasizing the values of courage, resilience, and unwavering faith.
Moving forward, our journey led us to Najaf, where we had the privilege of performing Ziarat at the sacred shrine of Moula Ali. The spiritual aura of Najaf provided a serene backdrop for reflection and introspection. Jame Kufa, another historical gem, witnessed our group collectively offering prayers, fostering a sense of unity and devotion among the participants.
The tour delved into the pages of history as we visited the site where Moula Ali had been attacked by his enemy, Ibn Muljim. Standing at the very spot where a pivotal moment unfolded, our students gained a deeper understanding of the sacrifices made by the early leaders of Islam.
Baghdad, the capital with a storied past, offered another layer to our spiritual journey. In this city, we paid homage to Moula Salman ul Faresi, reinforcing our connection to the roots of Islamic history. The tour concluded with a poignant visit to the site where Moula Aqeel Farzandu, a devout companion, fell victim to the Yazeedi army.
Throughout our expedition, the students and teachers alike absorbed the cultural richness, historical significance, and spiritual resonance of the places visited. The trip fostered a sense of unity, understanding, and appreciation for the sacrifices made by those who stood firm in the face of adversity.
This school tour to Iraq was not merely a physical journey; it was a transformative experience that left an indelible impact on the hearts and minds of all participants. The memories forged during these ten days will serve as a guiding light, inspiring a deeper connection to faith, history, and the enduring spirit of resilience that defines the Islamic tradition.
