Annual Prize Giving 2018-19
The prize giving, held annually is a reflection and a celebration of our students’ achievement. The annual prize giving of Burhani Serendib School for the academic years 2019/2020 was held on the 12th of October 2019 at the Defense Services College Auditorium from 2.30pm onwards. This year, the event was dedicated in gratitude of Ashara Mubaraka 1441h and the innumerous bounties that we had been blessed with. The event was graced by, the Guest of Honor, Janaab Amil Saheb Khuzema Bhai Saheb Ismail Bhai Saab Rashid.
The event commenced with the recital of Quran-e-Majeed by the students of Primary 3 and the recitation of Abiyat-us-Shukr followed by the school song by the school choir. The welcome address was then given, followed by the distribution of the prizes of the primary school.
As per the new system, every student from primary 1 to primary 4 was awarded for the determination and dedication towards studies. Apart from being awarded for their academic distinction, students also showcased their acting mastery providing entertainment for the audience. The Junior School students portrayed the virtues of having hope and being positive through the famous German fairy tale “Rapunzel”, while the senior school students presented a play about betrayal, power and war through William Shakespeare’s “Julius Caesar”. In light of the 30 counsels of Imam Ali- the theme for Ashara Mubaraka 1441h, the students of Burhani Serendib school even exhibited a skit about the importance of Bismillah and the benefits of reciting it. To enlighten the audience furthermore, speeches were made by two Senior Students. One on the “Significance of Women in the Bohra Community” and the other titled “How Ashara Mubaraka changed my Life”. The distribution of prizes of the Senior school, along with the Special Awards and Edexcel Awards then followed in the agenda. Finally, the vote of thanks was delivered by a member of the board of marking the end of a quite memorable evening.
Overall, it was an eventful evening which was enjoyed by all those who attended it. This event additionally brought pride to all Burhanians and was also an encouragement and motivation for the students to do wonders and achieve greater heights for the following year. The prize giving was indeed a great start of the new academic year.
