Annual Interhouse Cricket Tournament 2019/2020
The Annual Interhouse Cricket Tournament 2019/2020 of Burhani Serendib School was held on the 2nd of December 2019 at the S.D.S. Jayasinghe Sports Ground from 9:00 am onwards.
The tournament started off with the opening ceremony which consisted of the customary hoisting of three house flags, along with the school and country flags, and Tilawat-e-Quran followed by the singing of the school song. The students were then dismissed to their respective houses as the first match of the day commenced.
As the day unfolded, the audience were provided with extraordinary cricket as the students displayed sheer talent, teamwork and the spirit of sportsmanship. Cricket has not only taught the students hard work and teamwork, but has also trained them to be patient and has moulded them into true gentlemen. The parents cheered joyfully throughout all the matches played, encouraging the students to keep pushing their limits and put out their absolute best on the field. The most entertaining match of
the day was the finals of the intermediate category between Saifee and Imadi in which Imadi were extremely behind on runs and the audience had lost hope on their win, but during the last overs of the match, the batsmen hit countless remarkable maximums and paved their way back into the game, eventually winning the match. This match had everyone on their toes and the audience surely witnessed some great cricket on the field.
After applying many strategies and trying hard for the win, only the best worked their way to the top and became our champions, and they are:
Junior Championship – Najmi House
Intermediate Championship – Imadi House
Senior Championship – Imadi House
The most awaited match of the evening was that of our parents against the teachers and was much rejoiced and appreciated as they showed their expertise on the field and supported all the students who participated. The match ended as a tie and both teams were declared winners.
All in all, the tournament was a day of great significance to all students of the school as the hard work and determination put in by all houses will take them one step closer to victory in the upcoming Sports Meet. The event was profoundly enjoyed by everyone present and one parent commented saying that it was indeed an action-packed day, indicating that the event was a huge success.
