Prize Giving 2023/24
The annual prize-giving ceremony was a vibrant celebration of student achievement, creativity, and dedication. The event commenced with the Primary 1s reciting the Tilawat-e-Quran. Following this, the head prefects for the year 2024/2025 addressed and welcomed students, parents, and distinguished guests, emphasizing the importance of recognizing hard work and excellence.
The Principal’s report for the year 2023/24 highlighted significant accomplishments across the school. The report detailed academic achievements, extracurricular activities, and initiatives that fostered a supportive learning environment. It served as a reminder of the collective efforts of students, teachers, and the community throughout the year.
Excitement grew as the Primary 1s to Primary 4s took center stage for their prize distribution. Young achievers were recognized for their academic and extracurricular efforts, proudly receiving certificates. This segment not only celebrated individual accomplishments but also inspired younger students to strive for excellence.
Next, the senior school showcased their dramatic talent with a captivating performance of The Merchant of Venice. The play engaged the audience with its themes of love, justice, and mercy, showcasing the hard work of both the cast and crew. This artistic expression added a lively element to the ceremony, highlighting the importance of the arts in education.
The prize distribution for Primary 5 to Form 4 followed, celebrating the achievements of students who excelled in various subjects. This was complemented by a beautiful Sinhala Kavi recited by the students of Primary 2, which captivated the audience and showcased the rich cultural heritage of the students.
The junior school continued the entertainment with their delightful play, The Jewel of Astoria. This performance enchanted the audience and reflected the students’ creativity and teamwork. The segment culminated with the announcement of special and high-achievers’ awards, recognizing outstanding contributions in both academics and character.
The Guest of honour, Janab Amil Sahab Ibrahim Bhaisaheb Zaini, delivered an inspiring address, encouraging students to pursue their passions and dreams. Following this, a lively Sinhala skit added humor and joy to the program. The intermediate students then presented their own rendition of Alice in Wonderland, bringing whimsy and imagination to the stage.
As the ceremony drew to a close, the outgoing batch was felicitated, marking a significant milestone in their academic journey. The chief guest Mr. Ali Asghar Akberally shared heartfelt words of wisdom, leaving the audience with motivational thoughts. The event culminated with a sincere vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to its success, followed by a soulful recitation of a Madeh, bringing the ceremony to a graceful and meaningful end.
