Interhouse Scrabble Tournament 2020
Scrabble exercises your brain and memory and enables you to have a relaxing and good time. This was precisely the aim of the Interhouse Scrabble Tournament 2020 of Burhani Serendib School which was held on the 26th of February 2020 from 2:30 pm onwards at the School Auditorium, and this aim was successfully achieved.
The tournament consisted of the two matches played by each participant in the Junior category and three matches played by each participant in the Intermediate and Senior categories. The matches were decided before the tournament started where participants of all three houses in all three categories: Junior, Intermediate and Senior, picked out their opponents by drawing chits. The duration of each match was 30 minutes.
After nearly two hours of tireless and extraordinary play, our competitive gamers showed great skill and gained even higher scores than expected. The prizes were awarded to the winners of this tournament on the 2nd of March 2020 during a special assembly. After combining the scores of all participants of each house under each category, the house with the
highest score in that category was declared champion and they are as follows:
Champions of the Junior Category – Najmi House with 1269 points
Champions of the Intermediate Category – Imadi House with 1572 points
Champions of the Senior Category – Najmi House with 1308 points
The individual with the most points after playing all their matches in each category was declared the best individual player. They are:
Junior Category – Alefiya Hussain of Najmi House
Intermediate Category – Aziz Moiz of Imadi House
Senior Category – Zainab Firoz of Saifee House
The points of all participants from all three categories in every house were totalled and the overall runners-up were declared as Najmi House with 4026 points and with a total of 4060 points, the champions of the Interhouse Scrabble Tournament 2020 are Imadi House.
All in all, the tournament was a very pleasant evening for all students who participated, where they could show their expertise and skill playing this much loved board game and enjoy
themselves at the same time.
