Interhouse Basketball Tournament 2019
The Annual Basketball Tournament of Burhani Serendib School was held on the 28th of September 2019 at Amal International School from 12:30 pm onwards.
The event commenced with the traditional opening ceremony, as all three houses were brought forward by their respective house captains and assembled at the front. The opening ceremony consisted of Tilawat-e-Quran and the Oath given by the Games Captain, Alaqmar Hussain, followed by the singing of the school song.
They say, “Good things come from hard work and perseverance”, and this holds true as our talented basketball players put on a tough fight and showed great skill and spirit in all the matches played. This year, for the very first time, our junior girls also played this sport, and quite enthusiastically as well. Both junior, as well as the senior boys also played exceptionally well, with the most interesting match of the day being the senior semi-finals between Najmi and Saifee, where both houses strived and fought hard for the win but after being tied at six points for a very long time, the winning point was finally made by Saifee who then advanced to the finals.
The tournament was interrupted due to unexpected heavy rain and the event was postponed to the 30th of September, where the finals of the junior and senior boys categories were continued. Both matches were remarkable and all the players did an outstanding job.
The winners of the Annual Inter-house Basketball Tournament 2019/2020 were as follows:
- Junior Boys – Imadi House
- Junior Girls – Saifee House
- Senior Boys – Saifee House
Overall, the event was a success as the parents were on their toes for each of the matches, cheering and enjoying the sport, and the audience felt joy watching them play as all the players evidently showed hardwork, zeal and commitment.
